Meet Quentin
Sometimes, I can write a poem in one sitting. The words are so covered in birth juice, they just slide right out. Other poems or stories take years, decades. I started this story when I was in my early twenties, but I strongly believe some things take longer to get right, to be ready. We have to be patient: with words, with successes, with love, with what we always hoped to complete.
“Quentin and His Shadow” started as a children’s book with my words and drawings. The story evolved, as I have. When I first wrote this story, I was writing about a boy who was curious and lonely and found friendship in his shadow. When I rewrote this story decades later, I realized I have been Quentin all along.
This book comes out soon with the help of a supportive publisher called “my dad” and an incredible artist named Michael Dillon and the realization that now is exactly the right time for Quentin’s story to be bound and paginated.
Stay tuned.
